Its a Shoe In
A while back on Facebook, I mentioned that I had been eagerly awaiting a pair of insanely hot shoes to arrive. What I did not also mention was that I had also ordered a pair of gunmetal grey shoes from Zu in Sydney. This was easily about 5 weeks ago, though I had been informed that the shoes would only take about 3 to 4 weeks to arrive. At the 3 week mark, I called up Zu in Garden City (where I had ordered them from) to see if they had come in yet. The assistant I spoke to said she'd call up the Pitt Street store - I was told that they had been sent and were on their way.
At 4 week, still nothing. Finally a couple of days ago I called up Garden City once again. This time, I spoke to a different shop assistant and when she called me back, she said that though Pitt Street had said they had sent the shoes, in actual fact, they hadn't. And not only that, that only pair left in my size, had been sold. It seems, this happens quite often. I cannot believe this is not only something they allow to happen, but also something they tell their customers happen. I tell you, some sales assistants really are idiots.
Anyway, since these shoes that were supposed to be part of my summer 08/09 collection will not happen, I will just list the other lot of shoes that I will endlessly be wearing this summer. I'm just going to do a general day wear and night wear heading. I doubt I'll be going to many day events that are dressy and as much as I do love the dressier shoes, I can't wear most of them for very long.
Normal casual day-to-day stuff
As you can see, I do wear a lot more flats these days, well maybe half and half. *grins* I would probably wear more heels but for the fact that the black round-toe pumps do give me blisters (and being close-toed, my feel would get too hot in the summer if I wore them too much) and the 2 tan shoes are a tad too big. The wedges are okay with Scholl's party feet gel pads, but the platforms have a habit of slipping off at the ankle strap.
Fancier night wear
I have already made very good use of those black shoes. They're even okay so certain day wear, though that isn't very often. I got the silver Aldo shoes in Singapore and though I love them, I have to confess that they cannot be worn for very lengthy periods, especially if there's any walking or even standing involved. Best for a sit-down affair where one may surreptitiously kick off the heels under the table. As for the beige and silver snakeskin, I haven't even worn those yet. But in store, the right side was way too big and needed lots of help from Scholl and the left was more or less okay. I predict it will also suit a non-walking/standing environment better. But hey, who ever said that things that pretty had to be perfectly functionable?
