Baby its cold outside
Winter is not one of my favourite months. Over here in Perth, its wet and cold and rainy and windy. You get the idea. So its pretty much astounds me when I see the current fashion this winter is a sort of boho chic. That's the main one. There's also ladylike (think prim and proper 1950's) and a slight western thing going. The western I can understand even if I don't see myself wearing it. Its warm. Its jeans and leather jackets and suede coats.
Okay, so wearing the same old thing winter after winter gets very boring but still, boho? With ladylike, you add a trench or lovely single-breasted coat and you're more or less set. The thing I just don't get (and anyone who knows me knows how much I'll put up with in the name of fashion) is how you can wear such filmy layers when its this cold. And I don't care how many layers you wear; thin is thin. I'm cold enough in jeans and boots, I think I may suffer from frostbite if I decided to do the long skirt and boots combo. As for tops, give me a wool coat and sweater any day.
Don't get me wrong, I love the look of pretty cami tops and even fine knits. But keep me warm they don't. Its just too, well, flimsy for winter. The only thing I feel they've got right is the need for scarves. And lots of them too. As for the jewelery, there's nothing like a whole lot of pretty sparkly things around your neck and bedecking your ears and wrists to really lift your mood.
Overall, I'll wear shoes that reduce me to a hobble. I'll wear tops that never allow me a second of slouching. I'll even wear trousers/jeans that require me to keep my tummy sucked in constantly. But I'll never leave the house feeling too cold.
Now where did I put my gloves....
