The Final Piece

Everyone who knows me knows that I pretty much live in heels because I'm vertically challenged. But even I need a break sometimes. So other than my tan boots (that I have finally found and absolutely love), I have also been keeping an eye out for flat black boots.

Now I wasn't too sure if they were something I should even buy; many boots can make your legs look thicker and shorter, especially without a heel and those were things I really did not want. As Mei had pointed out, I needed to find boots that would cover my calves.

I had looked on an off at various shoe stores but till yesterday, had never even thought about going into Williams. I was most impressed that they not only had some rather decent designs, but that they also stocked size 5. Okay, this isn't leather but considering its mostly for casual wear in the rain, I don't really care. :)

Unintentional Spree

I think that title about sums it up really. All I meant to do was look around a few shops and then get some groceries. Mei was a bit slow in getting out of bed and said she would meet me there. So I suppose I can blame her for taking as long as she did? Okay fine, the onus was on me.

At least I didn't buy stuff from every shop I went into. Just some of them. on a side note, I went into both K-mart and Target and didn't find my clothes rack in either so I might have to try my luck at Bunnings tomorrow.

Meanwhile, here's a list of my newest possessions and where they came from:
  • Jay Jay's - 1 plaid top and 1 denim shirt-dress
  • Dotti - 1 tan leather belt
  • Forever New - 1 grey cotton shirt and 1 grey sequined over-sized knit
  • Valley Girl - 1 dusky pink shirt, 1 black zip-detail top and 1 white broderie anglaise embroidered top
  • Myer - 1 jade green silk dress, 1 floral blousy silk top, 1 mustard silk blouse, 1 silver and grey silk blouse
All this after getting the light grey patterned tights and brown clutch from Sportsgirl last week. *sigh* And let's not even get into the clothes from Supre about 2 weeks before and of course, my new shoes.

Oh well, let's see some pretty pictures instead, shall we?

Valley Girl

I thought the white was so gorgeously feminine and would look great teamed with jeans as well as tucked into a pencil skirt for work.

The pink is a good basic to have as again, I can use it for both work and play, though I think its a bit too 'blah' just with jeans. Maybe with cute tweed shorts? Finished with a chunky-knit cardi, tights and ankle boots.

The black fuses this season's zip trend along with a sort of 'utility' material, almost like a water-proof material.

Jay Jay's

Denim is having a bit of an in season, and what better way of having it than as a classic shirt-dress?

And I have finally gone and bought myself a plaid shirt. This can be worn with a smart skirt for an edgy office look.

Forever New

I had the grey top in cream and love it so much I had to get it in grey as well. The fabric is in 2 tones of grey, one of which is slightly transparent so nude-coloured underwear is a must.

I nearly didn't try this knit as the price initially put me off, plus it was a size too big. However, I think certain tops look nice when worn loose and this was one of them. Plus the fabric was so soft and comforting that I couldn't resist.

Myer (Tokito & Miss Shop)

I used to have a skirt that had a similar flower print as this top. It was one of my staples by now, I haven't worn it in years. This top by Miss Shop however, is another item that's good for casual occasions, though it can still be smartened up.

The grey Miss Shop silk top can be really dressed up since it already has some shine from the silver detailing. Otherwise, it makes another great work top.

I never thought I'd wear mustard but I absolutely love this colour now. And this pretty silk top by Tokito will work well with both a winter and summer wardrobe.

There was a whole rack of Tokito dresses on sale and though I tried on at least 4 or 5, I (thankfully only wound up getting this gorgeous silk jade one. Its a shift so a belt would be needed to give it some shape, as its a bit long for my height to be worn as is. I love the pleat detail at the neck and the pockets make it cute.

Dotti

A great tan belt will never be a fashion faux pas. Although in my case, I have more than 1. This however, has been made specifically for going around the waist and isn't long enough to be slung low on the hips.

So there it is. I swear I will not spend like this again for at least another fortnight. I would like to say a month, but I think that would be stretching it too much.

Another Shoe Story

I have finally done it! I stopped by this shoe shop today - Hobbs. I've been in many times and I usually find something nice, while not actually been desperately trying to find anything at all. Anyway, I had done a fair bit of shopping already and was already planning on leaving, when I decided to pop in quickly. And lo and behold, what should I see but a pair of tan boots and in a size 35 to boot (I know, puns are the lowest form of humor, but humor me will you?). Unfortunately, I couldn't even get them on and prayed that they would have a 36. They did and they were perfect! I have been looking for at least 3 years so the AU$219 price tag didn't put me off.

And then of course, when I was waiting, I picked up another pair of shoes and tried those on too. Part suede, part patent and most deliciously studded, these flats molded to my feet and flexed softly with each step I took. And at AU$89 I knew they were a bargain (anything under $100 is for me). So, a fair bit cash poorer but 2 pairs of shoes richer, I walked out of Hobbs feeling very happy with myself.
